This is a really valuable part of the course, where most previous students have commented on how much they got out of this session alone.

Here's what some previous students had to say from an anonymous survey at the end of the “Painting a Pelican” workshop in June:

"As a beginner I felt Murray explained a lot of fundamental concepts very well. I feel that I am more confident to practice and experiment. Being able to paint along with Murray was really helpful, watching the techniques and then putting it immediately into practice."

"This lesson, for me, has made me see the value of light (without using white) and shade so much. The pelican just shows it so clearly. You could not have chosen a better example than the pelican for this type of class. Secondly the water reflection technique was easy to follow. I also have to mention, how you explain mixing the colour and actually showing it, absolutely invaluable. I just loved the whole experience, and the fact that I felt relaxed about it, particularly the fact that it is recorded, so we can go back and do it at our own pace. Thank you, it was the best."

"Such a wonderful experience to get the confidence to paint on my own. Such a great workshop to guide you and give you the know how to mix colours, apply paint and complete a canvas painting. All the preparation videos were such a help so that you were prepared for the workshop. Follow up videos help cover off the things we ran out of time for."

“Highly recommended. Murray is an excellent teacher with good focus on technique and details. Very open to questions at any level.”
